Twilight Zone

Twilight Zone is perhaps the most influential television show from the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. TV Guide ranks Rod Serling, the show’s creator, as #1 on the list of “25 Greatest Sci Fi Legends,” the only real person on the list. TV Guide also lists Twilight Zone as the fifth greatest show of all time. The road to television success was not easy for Rod Serling. He was among the first to disagree with the intrusion of advertising and fought hard with CBS execs for creative control on Twilight Zone. He veiled his radical societal messages behind themes of alien invasion and the supernatural. The show, and Rod Serling, won two Prime Time Emmys for Outstanding Writing Achievement in Drama. This pen and ink image marked a change in the show’s development from a half-hour format to a full hour in 1962, and “The” was dropped from the title.
